Automate tasks around your home using Alexa.
Smart homes are all the rage. Enter a home, say the magic word, and everything turns on! In this project, Explorers will learn more about smart homes, home automation, smart products, and ways to operate them. Through Amazon Alexa’s powerful voice recognition capabilities, Explorers will automate various tasks around the home.
Using the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) provided for Amazon Developers, Explorers will create their own skills and actions for Alexa to execute. Examples tasks range from asking for information to interacting with smart appliances in the home.
Harnessing the powerful user interaction interface and APIs provided by Amazon, Explorers will work with the developer console to develop their own Lambda functions. They will learn about how to host their project on AWS Lambda and how the code behind it works using Node.js, Java, Python, C# or Go.
An Amazon Echo, Amazon Echo Dot, Amazon Dot, Amazon Tap, Fire TV, or other devices that use the Alexa Voice Service can be used in this project if available in the household, but are not required.
