Program an a-MAZE-ing Robot

LEVEL: Beginner (no coding experience required)
AGE GROUPS: 8-10, 11-14

DURATION: 3 weeks
EFFORT: 1.5 hours a week (live classes) + 1.5 hours a week (outside of class)

Explorers will use MIT’s Scratch 3.0 programming language in order to program a robot that can solve a maze autonomously. Equipped with the fundamentals of programming and algorithm-writing, along with proper testing principles, they will compete to see who can create the fastest maze-solving robot. The class will use MakerBlock’s mBot educational robot but the purchase of the robot (~$80) is not required for participation.

    Get a unique opportunity to create your own website from scratch! Together with the team, students will get to decide on what the website will be about and look like. After building the structure and organizing its content, it will be published for the world to see! Together, students will begin to understand why coding is an essential skill, and how it can make a huge difference when practiced in a team environment.

    Explorers will acquire the essential tools and techniques necessary for leading a successful negotiation process. Through a series of person-to-person and team-to-team games, they will learn how to compromise and cooperate, while considering the importance of interest sharing and the power of fairness. The explorers will know how to apply “win-win” dialog and negotiation to many areas of their life while learning how to increase the pie that needs to be split in a negotiation.
